UNITED OPPOSITION- ZENAWI'S NIGHTMARE

United Opposition – Zenawi’s Nightmare
Democracy can not get a foothold in Ethiopia let alone thrive while anti-democratic and anti Ethiopian forces are exclusively running the show. Ethiopia has come a long way since the days when the deceitful and treacherous liar Zenawi and his cadres were able to use opposition parties as cover for formalizing their pre-arranged ‘victory’ as a democratic victory. The fascist dictator is now faced with a more determined public and organized opposition ready to defend the country, freedom of the individual and the democratic gains achieved in the May election.

The unity among the Ethiopian popular opposition parties who hold the banner of justice and freedom has at last become a reality. We are passing through a defining moment in our history when we have stood firm against sustained pressure both from inside and outside to capitulate to dictatorship and tyranny, including constraints from people who claim to be leaders of the free world. The unity of the opposition parties has become a nightmare for the fascist regime that until recently has successfully managed to divide and rule, bribe, coerce and has remorselessly imprisoned and killed its members as it chooses.

Equally important is the fact that the Ethiopian public have taken matters in their own hands and are now leading the struggle from the front with the popular parties following from behind. They have shown themselves to be trustworthy guardians of freedom and justice and sources of power. More than ever before, they realize their power and strength and their obligations in the collective struggle to save the country from the clutches of tyranny and repression. The Ethiopian people know their rights and no body can take it away from them again. They realise the destiny of the country lies in their own hands.

We have also seen enough evidence that both CUD and UEDF realize that they are accountable to the public who put them in a position as public representatives. The public have been able to influence and control the parties. With out public participation there is no democracy, people should be able to debate the issues that affect the collective interests of our country. Such is the trend we want to see firmly established in a future democratic Ethiopia, where there is no fear of persecution for expressing different points of views and everybody is equal before the law. A democratic alternative to Zenawi’s tyranny and dictatorship can not be built without a public participation.

The aim of the struggle is not to replace woyane’s tyranny, at the core of which is a policy of ethnic apartheid and divide and rule, with another form of tyranny that only pays lip service to democracy whilst in practice abuses human rights and attacks democracy. The objective of the struggle is to create a new democratic, political and legal and judicial system that is open, all inclusive, accountable and one that encourages robust public participation in the affairs of our country. It is the creation of a system where all types of groups and organizations will be able to participate and engage with the Ethiopian people with their political programmes.

The political divide between the Ethiopian public and the fascist regime led by a bunch of criminal gangsters is now as clear as day light. The struggle is not about proving the guilt and atrocities of the fascist regime. Faced with a surge in popular uprising, the regime, has now been forced to remove its mask. It is seen aggressively employing even more atrocities trying to escape from the defeat it faced in the hands of the people. It is a futile attempt by a dying dictatorship that does not realise that crime does not pay.

The struggle against dictatorship and tyranny as a unifying and driving force has gained momentum and should reach its logical conclusion with victory for the Ethiopian people. It is incumbent upon the Ethiopian people that they safeguard their votes and the democratic rights taken away from them by armed violence, intimidation and murder. The fascist regime has yet to face the full rigors of sanctions and peaceful measures of the Ethiopian people at large and it is now time to implement such popular mass action.

The peaceful struggle to safeguard the mandate of the Ethiopian people shall continue.

GOD BLESS ETHIOPIA

one thing is important in this critical period of our political struggle:

let us place the interest of our country before our personal interest.
this is the wrongest time for political ambitions.
we should sacrifice our personal political ambitions for the sake of the common good.

let us place the interest of 77 million ethiopians after our individual interest !
