The Italian Ambassador in Addis Ababa Raffaele De Lutio replied:
I would like to assure you that after the previous exchange of mail is an Italian friend we went to Gondar, and performed a complete photographic survey of the park in front of the imperial castles. The situation corresponds to what you reported, the "recovery" of the garden was built about a year ago, reusing material (stones) from decommissioned military cemetery of Gondar.
We are checking with Onorcaduti and local governments the ability to move the headstones in the cemetery's military Makalle (if they accept it the case of Tigray) or other solution. We could perhaps cover the cost of replacing the benches through the generosity of Italian friends living here, waiting Onorcaduti provide the necessary appropriations.
I'll keep you informed of developments, so I hope you soon and thanks for the tip.
