I don't know why Hagos is trying to confuse us. Siye Aberha and Gebru Asrat were NOT against MLLT. On the contrary, they were the ones who allied with Meles to fight any opposition to its formation. The only two people who opposed it, according to Dr. Aregawi were Aregawi and Gidey. (page 239* see link below)
Quote:
A day later, the 21 CC members of the MLLT and TPLF (in fact the same personalities in both organizations) convened to elect a politburo and a general secretary for the MLLT. Before the election resumed, Meles brought charges against Giday and
Aregawi. Close allies of Meles, namely Sibhat Nega, Seye Abraha, Awaalom Woldu and Gebru Asrat, followed suit. They had prepared a range of charges, from ‘ being an obstacle to the formation of the MLLT’ to ‘ contemplating removing Meles’ . The allegations were brought by Meles and his supporters to get rid of their challengers
In fact Seye Abreha was a founding member of MLLT. That is what Aregawi Berehe tells us (pg 240* see link below)
Quote:
On Meles’ s recommendations, the new CC approved the politburo members’
nominations for the MLLT. The new MLLT politburo and the departments they headed
were as follows:
1. Abbay Tsehaye – Secretary General
2. Meles Zenawi – Ideology and Propaganda
3. Seye Abraha* – Military Bureau
4. Tsadkan Gebretensai* – Chief of Staff
5. Tewelde Woldemariam* – People’ s Bureau
6. Seyoum Mesfin – Foreign Bureau
7. Gebru Asrat* – Socio-economic Bureau
8. Awaalom Woldu* – Socio-economic
9. Sibhat Nega – Socio-economic (nominal TPLF chairman)
10. Aregash Adane* – Alternate Member
11. Arkebe Equbai – Alternate Member
You can see for yourself here in Dr. Aregawi Berehe's thesis. pg 239-240
ሌላ ደሞ የምጨርምረው አለኝ ...In examining the trip taken by Siye Aberaha to Asmera, to attend Sawa inauguration and Gradution JUST BEFORE THE 1998 BADME WAR, we can see from the warm welcome accorded to Siye in Asmera that the two are quite close. The question then is why are people like Tesfaye GebreAb writing to make it appear as if that warm friendship does not exist. In fact Siye is as close to Issayas, if not closer than Meles.
The truth is all these ETHIOPIA HATING racist, inbred ethnocentric, ethnosupremacists were working together and ARE STILL WORKING together.

There were many in the course of the Tigray People’ s Liberation Front’ s (TPLF) long history that were peeved with the leadership and left the party for good.
For instance, among the 10 leaders that had later joined the first central committee of the TPLF, it is only Meles Zenawi and Arkebe Oqubay who are still at the helm of power.
Two of them, Atakilti Ketsela (PhD) and Assfeha Hagos, have died since then, while six others - Seyee Abraha, Gebru Asrat, Tsadikan Gebretensay (LtGen, Ret), Tewelde Woldemariam, Zereay Assgedom, and Awalom Woldu - are all alive and kicking, some here in the country, others in exile, according to gossip.
The timing and circumstances of their departures from the TPLF is as varied as their current situations and roles, not only in the eyes of their core constituencies, but also in the larger public. The manner in which each is still regarded by the rank and file within the TPLF differs just as much.
What they may all have in common, though, is that their departure from the party that they helped establish and fought for was not graceful with respect to the leadership that remains to govern the region and the country.
As such, there has not been any history of a senior leader of the TPLF leaving out of their freewill or being retired.
What is of little knowledge to the public at large is that the Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) leadership revised its bylaws about two years ago. A leader of the party cannot serve more than two terms in a ministerial position, and members above the age of 65 are to be relieved of their position, “ in honor.
For the first time in its history, the TPLF did exactly that last week, concluding its convention in Mekelle, held from September 7 to 9, 2010. Although what transpired during the confidential meeting of the central committee is of interest to the public, gossip claims, it remains undisclosed. It is also interesting to see the list of people that the TPLF leadership relieved, from not only the central committee, but also the rank and file.
It started from the highest possible order, Sebhat Nega.
In his early 70s, Sebhat is not only the oldest among the surviving leaders of the TPLF, he is also one of the seven founding central committee members elected immediately after the organisation was formed in 1976. It is only Abay Tsehaye and Seyoum Mesfin who remain in the leadership of the TPLF from that group. He is now head of a government financed think-tank on foreign policy, affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
The other surprise departures from the senior leadership is Mulugeta Alemseged, once head of the National Security Council (NSA), now serving as an advisor to the Prime Minister on social mobilisation. Tewelde Gebru, former ambassador to Sweden, where he was located in mobilising resources for the TPLF during the armed struggle, is also included in the list of veteran members to leave the TPLF.
Others included are Gebreab Bernabas (PhD); Hailmichael Abera (PhD), president of the Civil Service College; Wolderufael (PhD), speaker of the regional legislative body; Adehana Haile (PhD), former president of Mekelle University and now state minister of Education (MoE); and Fisseha Zerihun, former mayor of Dire Dawa, currently deputy mayor of Mekelle.
The TPLFites are sure to surprise many in the gossip corridors.
One such surprise is the appointment of Abay Woldu as second in command next to Meles in the TPLF as the vice president of Tigray Regional State. Abay Woldu is to be the next president of Tigray, the gossip corridors feverishly speculated.
Even more surprising was that Azeb Mesfin, the wife of the TPLF chief priest, was elected to the politiebureau.
The surprises do not end there, as veteran fighters Arkebe and Seyoum left the bureau, gossip learned, making it the first time that their presence would be missed.
